At NEB Lyophilization Sciences, we primarily dry in “cakes” of various shapes and sizes. Drying in a cake format allows for the dried material to take the shape of the container in which the liquid material was dispensed into. Cakes allow for consistent and highly reproducible performance results. We see almost instantaneous rehydration of the dried material. We are currently pursuing an innovative solution to create beads/spheres which have the same performance and characteristics of cakes. Our innovative beads and spheres will have consistent volumetric precision and size, high solubility, instantaneous rehydration, and will be formulated to avoid collapsing under environmental and handling conditions like cakes.

Most customers formatting needs can be achieved by drying into glass vials/tubes, plastic tubes (individual or strip well) or plates (96- or 384-well). Further, we can provide Karl Fischer residual moisture analysis. If our standard formats do not meet your needs, we have experience and the ability to lyophilize material for a range of custom formats and devices, including cartridges and membrane-based products. Contact our NEB Lyo Sciences Team to review all packaging formats available to you.
